A special edition developed in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art, this placemat was inspired by William Morris's "Violet and Columbine", a textile design registered in 1883. The weave was developed through contemporary techniques with a nod to traditional craftsmanship. Sketching and digital rendering in the Chilewich design studio helped translate the inspiration into a modern woven structure, bringing new functionality to its rich colors and complex pattern repeats.
