Beautiful but horribly unflattering.

This dress is absolutely beautiful, but it is horribly unflattering. I thought it was unflattering on the model, but I thought that is was due to the voluminous skirt. As such. I ordered it in my regular size (16) as well as a smaller size (14). I assumed that a smaller size would have less volume and look better. Well… the 14 fit beautifully, the unattractive aspect of the dress is the empire waistline!! All that gathering at the waistline, positioned as it is right under the bust, just makes one look pregnant - in the front and the back! When I pulled the dress down to fit at my natural waistline, it looked so much better!!! But that didn’t work at all because then my entire back bra strap showed. I’m really disappointed because, as I said, it is beautiful!! It is so well made, and the eyelet is gorgeous!!! I’m so sad to return it.
