Beautiful but too wide

They are beautiful to look at but the fit is off. I am usually an 8.5-9 and ordered the 8.5 they are extremely wide. So wide that my feet are falling out of them. Will exchange for a smaller size but still think they will be too wide. ( I have a normal width foot)
